Exercise Videos On YouTube

Updated on October 11, 2013

Below are some exercise video routines found on YouTube. These are great for anyone who wants to start an exercise routine.

If you are already exercising, these exercise videos can give some variety to your workout with some new routines. And if you are not currently exercising, just watch some of the videos and perhaps they would inspire you to start.

Many of them you can do at home without too much equipment -- for example the body weight exercises. Some may require going to a park where you have room to move -- such as the sprinting and burst exercises. But certainly, joining a gym is not required.

The videos include a variety of exercises including body weight resistance training, burst fit training, high intensity interval training, tabata, and even kettle bells.

Depending on your level of fitness, pick ones that are appropriate for you. For those with adrenal fatigue, you might want to start off slow and overdo it. Check with your doctor first. What is nice about these exercises are they are fairly short, unlike the hours of marathon running that can raise cortisol and add stress to the body.

If you have four minutes you have time to exercise. The Tabata method only takes four minutes. So if you need motivation, you might want to start with that first. Four minutes a day in the morning is not so bad, is it?

Tabata Workout for those who don't have time

The Tabata method is to exercise for 20 seconds and rest for 10 seconds. Do various routines for 4 minutes like that. Bex of BexLife.com is a fitness and yoga instructor and she will show us in the below video a routine consisting of jumping jacks, squat press, high knees, and modified pushups.

Dr. Mercola Exercise Video

Here is a video by Dr. Joseph Mercola in his studio. It consists primarily of body weight resistance training exercises. Some involves the uses of some free weights. There is one jumping routine that gives you quite a bit of cardio. You can see more videos at Peak Fitness presented by Mercola.com

Dr. Axe Burst Fit

In the below video, Dr. Josh Axe shows us his burst fit routine which gets you up to 90% of your maximum heart rate. You go as fast as you can for one minute with 30 second rest in between.

Routine includes running in place, push ups, rest, squats, bicycles, rest, mountain climbers, and burpes. He says that training like a sprinter using burst training burns more fat than traditional cardio. Check out the five-toe shoes he is wearing in the video.

If you like these type of exercise, Dr. Axe has a home fitness workout DVD program called "burstFit".

Mark Sisson Sprint Workout

Mark Sisson uses his Vibram Five-Fingers shoes to show us his sprinting routine at a beach. He also shows us a natural stretch. In another article linked here, you will find more of Mark's video showing some body weight exercises that includes a push-up progression and a squat progression. Here progression means modifying the routine to from easy to difficult depending on your ability.

Mark also wrote the book The Primal Blueprint 21-Day Total Body Transformation which covers nutrition as well as exercise.

FitnessBlender's High Intensity Interval Training

FitnessBlender shows us what High Intensity Interval Training is all about. It is abbreviated as HIIT. The goal is do high intensity for 40 seconds and rest for 20 seconds. High intensity means to do as fast as you can. You don't need any equipment, not even a timer. Because the video will keep time for you.

The routine includes jumping jacks, Jump squats, Reverse Lunges with Jumps, High knees, split jumps, repeater knees, repeater knees on other side, and heel tap jumps.

Although we want to exercise, our motivation wanes if we are also doing the same thing or don't know what to do with a kettleball or elastic band.

You can find a lot more video of various exercises on FitnessBlender.com including a Quiet Cardio with no bounce and low impact (which is good for people with joint problems or in an apartment where you don't want to disturb neighbors).

KettleBell

Now kettlebells are not for everyone. So check with your doctor first. They can be a bit advanced as kettlebells can be quite heavy and injuries can occur. The below video shows a kettlebell routine ...

For another kettlebell routine, video linked here shows kettlebell expert Steve Cotter showing Sean Croxton some kettlebell basics. Form is quite important and some routines can be quite technical.

There is a pinterest page with pictures of various exercises that you can try. Some of which includes kettleball.

Additional

While you are in the exercising mood, there is a poster of Scientific 7-Minute Workout found on The New York Times that combines cardio with body weight resistance training that you might want to try.
